Bile and mucus after meals with the Lap Band

lapband questions
Question: I seem to have a tremendous amount of bile or mucus which causes me to vomit after eating.
It doesn’t matter what I eat, it happens with all different types of foods. Some days are
better than others. My question is would taking something like Zantac help this situation or is there another solution?

Brooklyn, NY

I would wonder if you were simply too tight and needed a little fluid removed from your Lap Band. You should not have the symptoms you are having if the Lap Band is in good position and properly adjusted. Some people call mucus coming up “sliming”, referring to the slimy texture of the reflux. I would suggest speaking with your doctor to see if removing fluid from your Band is something that might help. I suspect it might do the trick.
